May 18 , 2008 - General Meeting 2:30 pm
First Baptist Church, 300 Willits St. Birmingham MI 48009

Howard Ginsberg
of Bedford Orchids, Montreal, Quebec, Canada will be speaking on Mini Cattleyas at our May 18, 2008 meeting.

Howard is an accredited AOS judge and has been growing orchids for nearly 30 years. In his early growing years he tried growing just about every kind of orchid known to man and managed to kill most of them. He found that the Phals were the most resilient and started to dedicate his time to growing them. He fell in love with the reds and yellows and realized that the best ones were coming out of Taiwan. Howard decided to travel to Taiwan to see what was available but once he arrived realized that the people of Taiwan do not speak English. After he returned home from Taiwan he immediately started taking Mandarin lessons and continued studying Mandarin for the next 5 years. Howard continued to travel to Taiwan regularly and started to buy flasks. His first buying trip required a minimum order of 120 flasks, and that is how and why Bedford Orchids was born. He buys for himself but will sell to his clients and then keep the rest.

Howard recently came out of the closet and admitted his true love of the mini catts. He found most grow well right alongside of Phals.

Check out his website at www.bedfordorchids.com or contact him at orchids@bedfordorchids.com. Howard can also be reach by phone (this is a Canadian number) wk. 514-866-6111 or home 514-738-0437.

Visitors are always welcome to the MOS Education and General Meetings
